Guelph-Humber Liberal Studies Society

About GHLSS

The Guelph-Humber Liberal Studies Society (GHLSS) works hand-in-hand with the Liberal Studies Program to spark excitement for interdisciplinary learning. We are dedicated to building a vibrant community where students from all programs unite to engage with their peers. By hosting immersive events that celebrate campus diversity and address pressing global issues, we provide unique opportunities for students to connect their academic journey with the world around them.

First Pour of the Semester:The first event of the semester is meant to introduce the societies plans for the upcoming semester, as well as opportunities within the Liberal Studies program for the upcoming academic year. It also allows students to connect with each other and the executive team. Cheers to the upcoming year!

Taste Testing the Electives:An event designed to provide students with a preview of the diverse course offerings available within the Liberal Studies program. A panel style event, where professors will showcase their electives in their own unique way, allowing students a more in-depth idea of what the electives will entail.

Halloween Horror Movie Night:Representative of the Cinema of Horror elective, this event will entail watching a pre-selected horror movie, and then discussing and reflecting upon it. With snacks provided, this event is one to die for.

Meet the 2026/2027 Guelph-Humber Liberal Studies Executive Team

Charlie Stewart
President
I'm a fourth-year Justice Studies student here at GH.
Creating this society has been one of the most fulfilling experiences I've had whilst at GH. As someone whose life revolves around the arts, literature, and humanities, I felt it was vital to help create a shared space for students of all programs to connect and receive opportunities to advocate, learn, and get the most out of their time at GH. I can't wait for you all to join us in the Liberal Studies Societies' inaugural year of events!

Hardil Hundal
Vice President of Communications
Hi, I’m Hardil! I’m a fourth-year Business Administration student specializing in Finance at the University of Guelph-Humber. As Vice President of Communications for the Liberal Studies Society, I work on social media, content creation, and keeping students connected with everything happening within the society. I enjoy being creative, meeting new people, and helping make campus life more engaging and inclusive for students.

Asmaa Baksh
Vice President of Activities
I’m Asmaa, a third-year Psychology undergrad here at GH :)
Since my first year, I’ve been amazed by the unique opportunities that students at Guelph-Humber have access to, but may not always know about. I joined the Liberal Studies Society to advocate and bring more awareness to these opportunities, so that more students can take part and make the most of what GH has to offer. I also hope to contribute to a space that encourages and is focused on cross-program interactions!
